Recycling is easy and free of charge. It helps to conserve natural resources and reduce the amount of waste deposited in landfills.

The Recycling and Solid Waste Disposal Facility is conveniently located in Shelbyville near I-64 and Taylorsville Road.
We are open 7 am – 3 pm Tuesday through Saturday except holidays.

Our Services
We accept both recyclable and non-recyclable materials. Recycling is free and there is a small fee for non-recyclables. Effective 1 May 2026, the price to dispose of non recyclables will be $1.00 for 20 pounds or less and 6 cents per pound for additional weight over 20 pounds. For example it will cost will cost $1.60 for 30 pounds of non recyclable trash. It’s easy, economical, and available to everyone. Tire disposal is for Shelby County residents only and tires must be less than 42 inches tall.
Please note that, due to economic reasons, beginning 1 January 2025 we will only be able to accept types 1 and 2 plastics (such as beverage, food, and detergent containers marked as type 1 or 2). [more info].
Please recycle all batteries (it’s free!). Do not put them in solid waste dumpsters because they cause fires.
